We Review the Nike Court Air Zoom Zero
The Nike Court Air Zoom Zero sees the brand merge its revered running shoe tech with a fresh release range of tennis shoes. A simple and seductive look in some slick colourways, this shoe delivers all the designer flair distinctive of a Nike shoe whilst providing a unique playing experience that will challenge how you think a tennis shoe should feel.
The elasticated bootie-constructed upper fits your foot like a sock providing supreme comfort and stability. The magic in this shoe is in the sole. A curved outsole is designed to better utilise changes in momentum whilst moving on court. Inside the sole a full-length Air Zoom unit – technology historically located in the heel or in the toe of a tennis shoe – genuinely makes the shoe cushioned as though you are walking on air.
When standing still, the curved outsole feels as though you are being rocked onto your toes – which some may find a little uneasy – but it’s worth it once you get moving. The outsole keeps you constantly ready to move whilst the Air Zoom Unit simultaneously cushions impact and springs you into you next step. Comfortable, light and stable when you are on court, in this shoe you feel extremely connected to your movement.

Durability definitely gives way to comfort in this shoe. I managed to wear through sole of the Nike Air Zoom Zero in 6 weeks wearing day-to-day in my profession as tennis coach. The one-piece upper means that your feet may get hot as the shoe lacks ventilation. This feature may also means that those with a narrow foot will benefit most.
The Air Zoom Zero is Nike’s most innovative tennis shoe release of the last decade. Sitting firmly between the Vapor X and Zoom Cage 3 ranges this shoe is here for the foreseeable and I, for one, am looking forward to seeing what the next generations will deliver.
Overall, it looks good and feels incredible on court but lacks durability. I give the Nike Court Air Zoom Zero a 9/10.
