Activity to Play at Home: Duck Ponds

Tennis 24/7 Kids Club, Duck Ponds Activity to Play at Home

It doesn’t take complicated activities to build children’s coordination and physical development. This simple game of Duck Ponds can easily be played at home, is great fun AND it has developmental benefits too.

Duck Ponds aims to develop controlled underarm throwing and catching. As players get better at this game, you can make it harder by moving the players further apart!

To play Duck Ponds you’ll need:

For this activity, you’ll need a ball, a duck pond (hoop) and “ducks”! Card board ducks are perfect – we’ve included one that you can print out! [download id=”4281″]

What to do:

  1. Two children, or a child and a grown-up stand facing each other about 2 metres apart. Place the duck pond (hoop) halfway between the players.
  2. Take turns to throw the ball (underarm) to each other, bouncing it in the duck pond (hoop) .
  3. If the ball lands in the duck pond, shout “splash”, then place a duck (card board, not a real one!) in the middle of the hoop.
  4. If you hit the duck with subsequent ball throws, see who can shout “quack quack!” the loudest!
