Activities to Play at Home: Bin Shots

Tennis(24/7) Bin Shots

Bin Shots is the first activity that we’ll be releasing to help you stay active and playing tennis even if you are isolated at home. You’ll need a person to throw and one to hit. The aim is to try to hit the ball in the bin. You should swap roles after 10 turns.

Get set up for Bin Shots

Pretty much all of the equipment is optional or can swapped out for something similar! Make do with what you’ve got. In the video clip below, to play Bin Shots, Mark has set up:

  • Two chairs – which are sued to support our makeshift net.
  • Bamboo stick – this serves as our net. A broom or mop handle would be just as good.
  • Rackets – that’s not optional! You’ll need a racket.
  • Ball – any colour of ball is fine. If you usually play with green balls, then use those. Sponge balls, yellow balls or orange balls are also perfect.
  • Small bin – or a bucket to aim for. It can be an outside garden tub – just so long as it creates a reasonably small target. Younger kids can use a bigger target and get smaller as they improve.

Variations

  • Try forehand only
  • Try backhand only
  • Try alternate forehands and backhands
  • Get competitive by keeping score
